Magnolia is a penthouse renovation that required equal parts vision and pragmatism. Navigating strata requirements, exterior restrictions, and fixed building services, the design achieved significant floor plan changes that capture the mountain views, maximize ceiling height, and draw natural light deep into the plan.
The design concept took its cue from the magnolia tree, its palette of rich, layered tones informing a scheme that honoured the clients' Italian heritage while remaining grounded in the Pacific Northwest. Robust, considered finishes were chosen throughout, selected to meet the demands of two accomplished home chefs while retaining warmth and refinement. The kitchen was expanded to nearly double its original footprint, anchoring the home around the clients' love of cooking and hosting.
Budget was managed with intention. Working closely with the clients, priorities were identified early so that investment was concentrated where it would have the greatest impact on daily life and long-term enjoyment. The result is a home that feels cohesive and considered from every angle, never revealing where choices were made.
